We all say the word family, that word sound sweet. That is until it turns sour. Tell me, what do you do when the very people who said they loved you are the same ones who hurt you the most? I'm your host, China Doll, and I'm pulling coats on the most toxic lie out there. That blood means family and loyalty. We got listeners writing in from Lisbon, Nairobi, Phoenix, Little Rock, all saying the same thing. "I gave everything to my family and they still tried to destroy me." And I know that feeling. We're talking mothers who weaponize shame, siblings who betray you, but the one that hit hardest, Greg and Denise, a couple from Phoenix who adopted their niece after her parents passed, raised her with love, gave her a home, stability and structure. She turned around and lied to the police, accused Greg of abuse, just to run off with a street dude. They nearly lost their freedom behind a child that they sacrificed everything for. Now she's in the streets, got a record, and an incurable disease, no court can cure. Family will fuck you up if you let them, but I'm here to tell you, you don't owe them your peace, you don't owe them your future, and you damn sure don't owe them access to your healing.
